UB Mobile Poker
Ultimate Bet was one of the pioneers of mobile poker, launching their WAP poker client as far back as 2006. However, the software was a much stripped down version of the PC software with far less functionality available.
Obviously due to the screen size and processing power limitations, the experience using the mobile poker client was completely different to that found on a regular PC or laptop. Graphics were far lower quality and many users reported numerous bugs in the software. Playing multiple tables was impossible and users could not play sit and go nor could they take part in multi table tournaments. At the time, cash games and play money tables were the only options available on the UB mobile poker software.
UB Mobile Suspension
Unfortunately, in 2007, Ultimate Bet suspended the use of its mobile client as a result of the various technical problems that had been encountered since its inception. At the time take-up was also low which hindered further development of the software.
However, the past few years have seen some huge advances in mobile phone technology in terms of processing power, screen resolutions and general capabilities. Coupled with the vast improvement of mobile internet transmission rates via 3G and now 4G networks, mobile poker is sure to explode in popularity in the not so distant future.
What’s certain is that Ultimate Bet will be among the first to re-enter the mobile poker market when the time comes.
Mobile Poker Options
If you are keen to play mobile poker on your cell phone, there are still a few options available the best of which is undoubtedly Full Tilt Poker.
